With the extremely dry conditions comes an increase in the number of fires caused by carelessly discarded smoking materials and accidental fires caused by the burning of trash, leaves and construction debris.
Although resident burning is already prohibited within the City of Barlett, we want to stress the importance of NOT burning trash and yard debris. Contractors and Developers normally have been allowed to apply for permits to operate Air Curtain Pit Burns. However, under this ban, no new permits will be issued. Due to the risk of spreading fire by ash and sparks, those construction sites currently operating a burn pit will be required to cease operations until the burn ban is lifted.
Smokers are asked to please consider the extremely dry conditions when discarding smoking materials.
The Fire Department will continue to do all it can to prevent these types of fires and we ask for our citizens cooperation in making Bartlett as "Fire Safe" as possible during these drought conditions.
