The Bartlett Fire Department will be servicing all City of Bartlett fire hydrants beginning March 15th and ending on June 3rd. Hydrant maintenance will be conducted Monday thru Thursday between the hours of 8am and 3pm. Each hydrant will be opened and water flowed until all foreign material, if any, has cleared. The threads of the hydrant caps will be coated with a food grade vegetable oil, and the hydrant will be painted if needed. Any hydrants having defects, such as leakage, physical damage, or corrosion, are reported to the City of Bartlett Water Department for repair. Fire personnel will also be looking for any material that will prevent the Fire Department from gaining immediate access to a fire hydrant. Materials such as trash, fencing, yard clippings, and bushes are common obstructions identified. Hydrant maintenance is designed to ensure the proper working condition of fire hydrants and water system.
