Brandon Thornton is a graduate of Bartlett High School, Class of 2002. He joined the Bartlett Police Department December 2006. He first served in the Patrol Division as a patrol officer. In 2010, he was selected to be a member of the department's Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), where he has remained an active member for the past 13 years. In June 2015 he was assigned to the FBI Safe Street Task Force, where he assisted in numerous federal investigations regarding gang violence in the Western District of TN. In August 2017, he was promoted to Detective. In September 2018, he was promoted to Lieutenant, where he was assigned as a field supervisor in the Patrol Division. In June of 2020, he was assigned as the Lieutenant over the Crime Suppression Unit. In January 2023, he was promoted to Special Operations Captain, where he was responsible for supervising the Crime Suppression Unit, Narcotics Unit, task force officers, and the SWAT Team. He has been serving the City of Bartlett for 18 years. In July 2024, he was appointed to the position of Chief Inspector by Mayor Parsons and is currently assigned over the Investigative Services Division. He was Officer of the Year in 2015 and is a Marine Corps veteran.
