1. Where do I get a marriage license?

The Shelby County Clerks office issues marriage licenses at three locations:

Downtown at 150 Washington Avenue
(8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.)

1075 Mullins Station Road
(9:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.)

Millington City Hall, 7930 Nelson

2. Where do I get or renew my car tags?

License plates, car titles and registrations are done at the Shelby County Clerk's office. There are three locations:

Downtown at 150 Washington Avenue

3. Where do I get a driver's license?

The State of Tennessee Department of Safety issues driver's licenses.

There are several locations in Shelby County to get your driver's license renewed. The closest one is at 6340 Summer Avenue in Bartlett. 901-543-7920 Driver's License Renewal Locations

4. How do I get a disabled placard?

You can get a disabled placard or a permanent handicap license plate at any of the Shelby County Clerk's Office locations. You will need to get an application and take it to your doctor and then return it to the Shelby County Clerk's Office.

5. Where do I get a copy of a birth or death certificate?

The Shelby County Health Department's Vital Records Office. They have two locations where you can get birth certificates in person: Vital Records Office Memphis & Shelby County Health Dept. 814 Jefferson, Room 100, Memphis, TN 38105 -  Office Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Both Birth & Death Certificates available at this location.

 Only Birth certificates and death certificates available at their satellite location, located at 1826 Sycamore View Road.  Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For Birth or Death Certificates information call 901-222-9693.
